Li became a teacher after graduating from Ginling. She taught at Knowles Bible Training School in Jiujiang (Kiukiang) in 1925, and became principal of the school by 1932. She took a break from Knowles in 1928 to study in the United States, and after Knowles she became Principal of Baldwin’s Girls School in Nanchang in 1934. She moved to Suining and lived there in the 1940s.
