Yang became a teacher at Baldwin School, which she had previously attended, after graduating from Ginling. She was also the alumnae representative to the Board of Control for Ginling Alumnae Association in 1925-26. She taught Science and Math at the Bridgman School in Shanghai, and became Principal by 1928. In the 1930s, she taught General Science and Biology at McTyiere school, before becoming Principal of Mo Djen Girls' School in Shanghai. She also did some study at the Yenching Academy in Beijing, and did some assistant work for Ginling’s department of Biology. She stayed in Shanghai into the 1940s.
