After graduating, Feng taught Science and English, first at the Laura Haygood Memorial School at Suzhou (Soochow) from 1920-1922. Then she married James C. L. Peng, a divinity graduate of University of Nanjing (Nanking), in June 1922. She moved to Nanjing, where her husband taught in the seminary and she taught at Laurence Hall in 1925-1926. They moved again, and she taught at Sungkiang Girls’ Middle School near Shanghai in 1928. After that, she taught in Yantai (Cheefoo), Shandong (Shangtun), for a year, living away from her family. They all moved in September 1932 to Hankou (Hankow), Hubei and she taught English at Griffith John Middle School there through at least 1937. She was chairman of the Alumnae Association and President of the Ginling Alumnae Association in Hankou. She and her husband had three children: Florence, Margaret, and Nelson. The family moved to Chongqing (Chungking) and lived there in the 1940s.
